Sri Lankan workers’ remittances increased in March 2024 compared to the same period the previous year.
According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, workers’ remittances totaled US$572.4 million in March 2024.
The CBSL stated that this was an increase above the data recorded a year earlier, in March 2023, which were US$ 568.3 million.
Between January and March 2024, workers remitted US$ 1,536.1 million.
The CBSL stated that this was also a rise above the data recorded during the same period in 2023, which was US$1,413.2 million.
Sri Lanka’s tourism earnings also increased in March 2024, reaching $338.4 million.
According to the CBSL, this is up from the US$188.8 million reported in March 2023.
Sri Lanka earned US$ 1,025.9 million in tourism revenue between January and March of this year, up from US$ 503.9 million in the same time last year.
